I am Neil.
I’m not very good at keeping up this blog but I have good intentions. I use it as a place to store stuff, link to stuff and reflect on stuff especially with my well intentioned attempts to learn French using digital resources.
I am the Mobile Learning Manager for the British Council, leading a global team to develop mobile learning opportunities for English language learners and teachers. This includes managing and developing apps, working across our global network sharing good practice and working on various mobile projects from SMS delivery to IVR.
You can see the apps at http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/mobile-learning.
I am based in Hong Kong, and have been here since 2004. I arrived with the intention of staying for two. I previously taught English for the British Council in Baku, Azerbaijan and Chiang Mai, Thailand. I have also worked in the UK running summer schools.
I have two children who like the fact that I am a mobile learning manager as they get to play with the tablets and phones I bring home from work. I am lucky as I get to observe how kids interact with these devices. Sometimes they let me play on them too.
I better add that all posts are my own thoughts and do not reflect the opinions of the British Council.
